Internal Regulation of Undergraduate Studies

The Internal Regu;ation of the Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood includes the regulation of the program of undergraduate studies, the assessment of courses and the regulation of the examinations.

Some of the basic points concerning the regulation of the program of undergraduate studies are the following:

  1. The credit units needed for graduation are 240 ECTS deriving from obligatory and elective courses and the practicum.
  2. The Indicative Program of Studies indicates the the rational course of study for the students.
  3. In each semester, students submit online the application for the courses they select to attend. For this purpose, the corresponding e-platform of the University is used. In each semester, the General Assembly the Department determines the deadline for the submission of the application. The selection of courses is according to the Program of Taught Courses. It is not allowed to select courses from a semester after the one that the student is enrolled. Students may select elective courses from the semester they are enrolled and from previous semesters if this is allowed.
  4. Students in the 4th year of studies may choose to prepare a diploma dissertation or take three additional elective courses instead.
  5. During the examination period, students may attend examinations of obligatory courses in the semester they are enrolled and obligatory courses they owe from previous semesters. Each student may be examined only in courses they have selected in the beginning of the semester.
  6. At least 13 weeks of classes are required for a course to be considered that it has been sufficiently taught. No grades may be submitted by tutors for courses that have not been sufficiently taught
  7. The overall grade of the diploma is computed by considering the grades in all courses required for graduation.
  8. Students need to have an account in the e-services of the Democritus University of Thrace. The account is obtained when students are enrolled in the first year of studies. Students are required to use the University’s e-services during their studies.
