Environmental Education, Sustainability and Sustainable Development

The course aims to analyze the concept of environmental education, environment, environmental problems,
environmental degradation and social injustice, ecosystem, and sustainability within the frame of the
interrelationship between human, environment and society. It is also aims to analyze the environmental and
pedagogical principles including ecosystem approach to environmental problems, interdisciplinary
approaches in environmental education, systemic and critical thinking, as crucial for the examination of the
environment’s systemic character and analysis of the environmental crisis. The students also become
familiar with several educational methods for the implementation of the environmental education in early
childhood education.
